DISTRICTS TRANSFER CENTER
ABOUT
The project is located in Samsun’s İlkadım district, between Atatürk Boulevard and Fuar Street. To the south of the site lies the Atatürk Cultural Center, while to the north are the planned Metropolitan Municipality Service Center and a recreational area. The total site area is 14,205 m².
With the construction of the transfer hub, minibus lines that previously terminated at three different points when arriving from the east, west, and south of the city are now integrated into the city center through a single hub. The site includes passenger drop-off and pick-up platforms, waiting and ticketing areas, and a café. The total enclosed construction area is 758 m². In addition, there is a dedicated platform for airport shuttles, a 12-vehicle taxi stand, and an open parking lot with a capacity of 72 vehicles.
During the design process, accessibility, sustainability, and urban integration were prioritized. By connecting the terminal with the light rail system, bus stops, and city minibus stations in its surroundings, the project serves as an urban transfer hub for all passengers.
The structure employs a steel carrier system with lightweight roofing materials. The canopies provide protection from sun and rain during boarding, alighting, and waiting. A landscaped garden between the buildings offers passengers an alternative space to spend time while waiting.
