CONGRESS AND CULTURE CENTER

SAMSUN - 2025
ABOUT

Samsun, often referred to as the "capital of the Black Sea," stands out as a city of geographic significance and rich historical and cultural heritage. The planned Samsun Congress and Cultural Center aims to become a landmark facility that supports the city’s growth as a hub for cultural and social activities on both national and international scales. The center is designed to host a wide array of events, from large-scale conferences to cultural performances such as theater productions and concerts. Key features include a 2,200-seat main congress hall, a 750-seat theater hall, and a 2,250-seat multi-purpose hall, complemented by smaller meeting rooms, boutique cinemas, and intimate theater spaces. The site of the Samsun Congress and Cultural Center is strategically positioned between two of the city's main arteries, near the entrance of Samsun's largest university. This vibrant location is further enriched by nearby student accommodations and seamless access to public transportation, including a light rail stop directly in front of the site. The design responds to this dynamic urban context by ensuring that the building is both accessible and engaging. Its expansive foyer and atrium act as a central gathering space, connecting visitors to the different parts of the city through its varied levels. The addition of two restaurants and a café, directly accessible from the street, enlivens the public artery leading to the university entrance. These spaces not only serve as casual meeting points but also activate the urban streetscape, contributing to the vibrancy of the area and enhancing the connection between the center and its surroundings, including the light rail stop. The expansive foyer and atrium space is at the heart of the center, providing direct access to all primary event halls. These include the main congress hall, theater hall, and multi-purpose hall, with entrances distributed across various levels. These levels are designed as galleries overlooking the atrium, creating an open and dynamic spatial experience. The space is further enhanced by a large transparent façade, making the center inviting and welcoming from both arterial roads. The congress and theater halls, visible from both inside and outside, are distinguished by wood panels in a striking zigzag pattern. A skylight above the atrium reinforces the connection between the two arteries, while natural light emphasizes the warmth of the wood, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The design extends its functions outdoors, with expansive open-air event areas. The largest of these is a roof terrace, capable of hosting up to 2,250 people, offering breathtaking views of the sea and the university campus's greenery. Additionally, two smaller terraces are designed for more intimate events, such as receptions. These terraces enhance the center’s versatility, providing outdoor spaces that complement the indoor functions and foster a seamless connection between the building and its surrounding environment.Every interior space within the Samsun Congress and Cultural Center is meticulously designed to enhance the experience of its visitors. Not only are the main spaces, such as the foyers and event halls, crafted in detail, but backstage areas, green rooms for the artists, and VIP lounges are also thoughtfully planned. These spaces are designed to provide comfort and exclusivity, ensuring that every aspect of the visitor and participant experience is considered. The interiors aim to create a seamless, luxurious environment, elevating cultural and meeting events at the venue to unforgettable experiences.
